My initiative is to bring an understanding of the multiple ways climate change is affecting the world and what can be done about it to as many people as possible, using the power of entertainment. I do this by authoring educational graphic novels featuring the ongoing adventures of Captain Polo, an anthropomorphic polar bear who travels the world and witnesses many aspects of climate change relevant to human societies, urban centres, ecosystems and wildlife. The stories and most characters are fictional but the facts and settings are the outcome of thorough research that includes the input and review by subject matter experts. 
As entertaining graphic novels The Adventures of Captain Polo books allow climate educators to broach the difficult subjects of global warming and its effects to children as young as 8 in a positive, fun manner. The impartial view of events expressed by Captain Polo as a non-human character not only serves to engage children emotionally but also helps dispel climate anxiety, especially since the books express messages of hope and positive action to make this world cleaner, greener, fairer and safer. 

I am also developing the Captain Polo character in his own right as an international messenger for hope and climate action, though videos, games, blogs, downloadable resources, school workshops and talks.
