Based on the Central Coast NSW, Australia, Dr Sandy Nicoll explains how she drew upon her own PhD and teaching in the primary/elementary sector in Higher Education and schools to be innovative as a response to the pandemic, Covid-19.
The example chosen to discuss is the group on FB - Kids at Home with Dr Sandy. This innovation originally aimed to support her local community( parents during school holidays), and has had a global reach in countries like Nigeria, Hong Kong and India. As the pandemic continued Dr Sandy utilised this journey by offering a free easy to access service to support preservice teachers and early career teachers on how to teach and easy to access resources aligning with STEM.
She talks about what she does, how she collaborates with others and describes her future vision to support innovation. Her work aims to help reduce the digital divide, model inclusive practices and how to teach.
